Getting rid of the ‘Mummy Tummy’

My journey with Dynamic Nutrition started in November of 2014 however my own personal journey started in July 2014 when I finally woke up to daily complaints to myself about losing weight and toning up. I had spent many mornings standing in the shower and debating with myself as to what I was going to do. My first step was the biggest, and that was saying that I was going to do something. So I phoned a girlfriend who was a bit of a gym junkie and asked her to help me out, sign me up at the gym and help me with a programme. Being a working Mum the only suitable times to go are early in the morning so I began with three mornings a week at 5am. Yes I hear you say 5AM!!! For me though this is the time that I feel most comfortable as there are not too many people there and I can use the equipment that I wanted to use. It also works in well with having a young family. It means that at the other end of the day I am still able to be there for my husband and kids for the nightly routine of dinners, baths, and bedtime. Funnily enough I do remember my husband telling me that I won’t keep going to the gym and that it was just a fad……..I think he gave me the exact motivation I needed. From July to November I committed myself to going to the gym and although I know that muscle weighs heavier than fat, I only managed to lose 2kg over that time. I noticed some subtle changes but not enough to make me jump up and down. At some stage throughout those first few months I remember my girlfriend saying to me that losing weight and toning up is 80% diet and 20% exercise. So I enlisted the help of Dynamic Nutrition. My initial assessment by Steph showed that I was at an unhealthy fat to muscle ratio of 33.9%. The ideal level for a person of my height and age was between 19-25%. Steph set a really achievable diet plan to follow and I hit this with pace and made a concentrated effort in the first two weeks to follow everything. Amazingly it kicked started by metabolism into action and from memory I dropped down to 31.9% in only two weeks. I was stunned to find it so easily achievable. Following on from this came the dreaded Xmas period with concerts and a beautiful weather. As much as I was trying to follow the diet plan that Steph had given I didn’t follow it properly and was still sinking a few beers and not eating properly. When I had my monthly assessment with Steph in January I had actually gone backwards and was back around the 33% mark. I was gutted. Steph was so very supportive though and explained that I could see how it worked because I had made it happen in the first two weeks. I remember Steph making one statement that has stuck with me throughout all of this and that was that we all have choices…… and I needed to choose the healthiest choice put before me. From there on in it has all been relatively simple. I have cut my gym workouts back to 2 days per week and with the help of Steph have got a new gym regime in place to target those hard to lose places like tummy and butt. I have also been playing netball twice a week and have found that I am faster around the court than I have been in ages. After 7 months of incorporating healthy eating into my day I have lost 10kgs and are down to 25%. I am so pleased I made that initial contact with Steph and Dynamic Nutrition, and even though I pushed back that first appointment many times, I finally made the move and will never look back. Steph is wonderfully approachable and supportive. Thank you so much Dynamic Nutrition!o do this! Mega happy today. Thank you!
